Matthew Marquardt, LPC · Denver, Colorado
Meet Matthew Marquardt, LPC—a Denver therapist for adults.
I provide individual therapy for adults who want to understand what keeps repeating, make purposeful changes, and leave sessions with a clearer sense of direction.
My clinical background
Clinical experience. A practical perspective.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado. I earned my M.A. in Psychology: Clinical Counseling from The Citadel Graduate College and have built my experience across trauma treatment, integrated healthcare, and outpatient therapy.
My clinical training at the Medical University of South Carolina included specialized PTSD treatment work with burn survivors. That work brought the connection between physical recovery and mental health into focus.
I have also spent two years serving as the primary mental health provider for two primary care clinics, working closely with medical doctors to help patients address mental health concerns alongside their overall health and well-being.
Across these settings, I have gained experience treating a broad range of mental health concerns. The common thread is practical, evidence-based care that takes the whole person into account—not just a diagnosis.

Structured approaches for real concerns
Training includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), prolonged exposure, trauma-focused CBT, dialectical behavior therapy-informed skills, and CBT for insomnia.
My approach
Real work. Clear goals. Meaningful progress.
Real Not Random reflects how I approach therapy: direct, collaborative, and goal-oriented. You should understand what we are working on, why it matters, and how it connects to the life you want to live.
You do not need to arrive with the perfect words or a fully formed plan. We can begin with what feels painful, confusing, or stuck. Together, we will look at the beliefs, experiences, and patterns shaping the present and identify realistic steps toward change.
My aim is meaningful, measurable progress—not simply a good conversation. We will set clear goals, check in on what is changing, and adjust our work when needed, while making room for the trust and honest conversation that therapy requires.
Who I work with
Individual therapy for adults.
My areas of focus include anxiety and OCD, depression, trauma and PTSD, grief, relationship stress, life transitions, career decisions, and feeling stuck.
